New Valentine's Day Song by Piratehouse

Love, the Piratehouse boys

And Check Out the Valentine's Day Songs form 2012!

Or This One From 2011!

This writer was somewhat perplexed when, after 22 years (well really only since sophomore year of college), the triumphal comeback for shoegaze pioneers My Bloody Valentine began with a whimper and not an “Only Shallow.” This Valentine’s Day the PirateHouse Boys (featuring PH Allstars Price Mason, Riley Skruggs and Tim Byrd) took a page out of the mbv playbook and then called an audible.

The Pirate House boys “found now” and then took it to later. Gone are the drums and beats characteristic of past PH tracks, Now the boys let the bell-ringing strums and thumps anchor the rhythm of this beautiful tune. But that’s shallow considering the breadth of the influence the Bloodiest of Valentine’s has had on these boys. The chords ebb into a melody but then flow into new extra-terrestrial terrain: for a bar we think there’s gravity but then we're lifted into the upper atmosphere of the music.

Fortunately the air is thick, thick, thick with synths, licks, and vox. These elements drift atop the writhing chord changes like the aftermath of the parade-queen’s float being pushed off the dock and into the high-tide bay. Each pre-chorus, the beautiful debris pulls out to see only to be crashed into the sea-worn deck of our ears and then spray above us as we, with fists clenched into the air, scream “I just wanna Hang Around!”

This track shows an exciting new direct for a group of musicians who, very much unlike My Bloody Valentine, are ceaseless in their stream of new unprecedented material. So this Valentine’s Day, if you feel like just hangin around with your lady or gentleman make it the most epic hangout with the PirateHouse Boys’ “Alive (Hang Around with You).”
